I have meant to write this for a while.
Often, when I am at a supplier’s factory, they ask me how to improve business.
My first answer is always the same. “Clean and tidy up your factory”.
First impressions count, and walking into a factory, with cigarette butts on the stairway, dirty bathrooms, and untidy sample room and work areas, fabric lying all over the place in no discernable order, fabric lying on the floor directly, waste fabric lying everywhere, messy trim store, etc.
Ultimately a clean and tidy factory will get you more buyers, as people notice exceptions. On a sourcing trip I will see at least ten factories. They generally all are similar. But if one is tidy and clean, it stands out.
Ultimately this will improve business, efficiency, and quality.
